In addition to being an attentive and caring instructor, Mrs. Benedict is a diligent musician, an energetic performer, and a hard-working and innovative entrepreneur. She is also the owner and director of the
Mrs. Benedict truly takes pride in providing sound and thorough instruction for all of her students. During private music sessions, students are taught proper technique, musicianship & reading skills, artistic expression, and stage presence. Because Mrs. Benedict believes that obtaining performance experience is such a vital part of a young performer's training, she single-handedly organizes, directs, choreographs and works as a sound technician for her students' bi-annual, fully-staged recitals, which include solos and ensembles in classical, jazz, pop, and musical theatre styles. As a result of their training, many of Mrs. Benedict's pupils have experienced a great deal of success in their student careers. Many have gone on to win various competitions, landed lead roles in musical productions in and out of school, participated in and have performed solos in All-State Chorus, All-District chorus & orchestra, All-County Chorus & Orchestra, received music scholarships (one of her senior year students was offered a $40,000.00 scholarship to sing lead roles in annual college operatic productions, another received a $60,000.00 music scholarship ), and scored consistently high in NYSSMA evaluations. Mrs. Benedict also offers her top students annual audition opportunities to perform at NYC's famed Carnegie Hall.

In addition to being a busy music instructor, Mrs. Benedict is also an active performer and competitor in classical voice. She has trained with Heidi Skok, Florence Hechtel, Cynthia Rheinhardt, Michael Douglas Jones, Timothy Long and Elaine Bonazzi. She has performed as a soprano soloist in several concerts at Carnegie Hall, as well as sang lead operatic roles and soprano solos throughout NYC and Long Island with organizations such as the Mannes Opera, the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Co. of Long Island, the Stony Brook Opera and the Stony Brook Baroque Ensemble. She received the Palmedo Scholarship in 2002 for Excellence in Vocal Performance, and later that year she won 1st place in the Music Teacher's National Association's (MTNA) Collegiate Voice Competition in New York State. In 2003, she won 3rd place in the Eastern U.S. Division of the same competition. Mrs. Benedict is a coloratura soprano with a range of about 3 octaves, and sings a variety of classical vocal repertoire in Italian, French, German, English, Latin, and Czech.
Mrs. Benedict has also made some noteworthy achievements in violin, piano, and acting performance. At age nine she fell in love with the violin and has been playing ever since then. Before graduating from Connetquot High School in 1999, she had received numerous "A+" and "Outstanding" scores in NYSSMA evaluations, and performed level 6 twice in High School. She had participated in All-District, All-County and LISFA festivals on many occasions. She went on to become a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and upon graduation in 1999, she received the National School Orchestra Award. Mrs. Benedict continued her studies on the violin throughout college, and was a section leader and soloist with the Stony Brook University Orchestra under conductor Susan Deaver. Mrs. Benedict has trained with renowned Long Island violin instructors including Wendy Fogel, Leslie Fayette, and Naho Tsu-tsui. Driven by an insatiable love of music, Mrs. Benedict loves learning to play new instruments. She started private training on the piano at age 15, and due to her prior training as a musician, picked it up right away. She continued to study piano intensely in college, where she received high scores in all her classes. Mrs. Benedict has also been acting since age 8. From 2nd grade to college she has performed lead roles in fully staged productions in straight plays as well as operas. She is also the stage director of the Amadeus Opera.
Mrs. Benedict not only owns and operates Marianna's Music Studio, but along with her husband, Mr. John Benedict, founded the Long Island based Amadeus Opera in 2009, a new company aimed at providing classical singers with more opportunities to perform fully staged operatic productions on Long Island. Although one of the primary goals of the Amadeus Opera is to encourage local emerging operatic professionals, the company has already attracted singers from around the world. In past productions, audience members raved about how professional the performances were, having complimented everything from the beauty of the singers' voices, to the musicianship of the string players, to the costumes & sets. Having enjoyed 2 successful seasons, the Amadeus Opera will begin planning 2012 shortly. Students will be considered for the chorus in upcoming productions.
Mrs. Benedict also owns Seitouha Goju Ryu Karate, and is an active member and green-belt under her husband and instructor Sensei John Benedict. Mrs. Benedict and her husband are active Christians, and sincerely love doing all of the work that God has set out for them.
